NHS Wegovy (Semaglutide) Update
The Scottish Government has announced wider NHS access to Wegovy (semaglutide) for selected patients with obesity and related health risks. However, NHS Lothian has not yet introduced a local prescribing or referral pathway for this treatment.
At present, GP practices cannot directly refer patients for Wegovy in NHS Lothian, and there is currently no process available for requesting it through your GP. Access is expected to be introduced through specialist services in a phased manner once local arrangements are finalised.
Please do not book a GP appointment solely to request Wegovy at this time, as we are unable to prescribe it or make referrals for it. We will update this website as soon as NHS Lothian publishes further guidance.
